A test of a 4-ton rigid six-wheeler Albion was recently organised in Nairobi by the local concessionaires for Kenya (anys Motor Transport). In one test the lorry, with a 21-ton load, was driven down a steep slope into a stream-bed and up the other side. The lorry dimbed out with put hesitation, and with no wheel spin or slip, although no chains were employed. The vehicle thea proceeded to cross the same stream-tries, bed at an angle.

The body is an all-metal-full 5 seated saloon. The coachwork docs not just rest on the chassis frame, but the body sides are curved over the sills and thus depth is saved, while strength and a low line are afforded. The body is stated to be practically indestructible and cli- mate-proof, and the makers have realized the importance of adequate ventilation in a car for oversea service. Attention has also been paid to preventing fumes entering the body. The Morris Isis Six has a six-cylinder overhead valve en gine of nearly 3 litres capacity, and is of about 30 h.p. In Europe.

"Wherever one goes in Europe, it is evident that the products of the American motor industry are in high repute. Furthermore, general business conditions are improving so rapidly in many sections that the people have money to buy cars and trucks far more than previous ly. In view of the fact that the automotive export trade has shown a steady increase each year for five years, I think that by 1931, and possibly in 1930, the motor industry will be shipping a hillion dollars of American products to foreign coun- tres.

"As for the Willys-Overland company's position in the industry, I am thoroughly satisfied with pre- sent conditions and future outlook.

"The industry's seasonal slacken- ing will this summer, more than ever, be offset by increasing volume due to growing prosperity in many other parts of the world. Willys Overland was among the året of American automobile companies to enter the export market before the we have plants in World War England and Germany; and have plans for further plant invest- ment in Antwerp. "About a thousand miles will be traversed during the six days, and Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, and Italy will be included in the itinerary. The start will take place at Munich, on Monday, Aug. 26, and an hour's speed test at Geneva will gonclude the con- test on the following Saturday.

The mountains of Central Europe will provide some of the roughest going, yet included in the series of International Trials, which was started in 1913, and the difficulties will be enhanced by the fact that the average speed which must be maintained is set at 25 m.p.h in comparison with the 20 m.p.h. ache. dule used in British owing to the speed limit.
