INSURANCE IN RUSSIA.

BENEFITS.

Moscow-Nearly 습했다 billion roubles in social insurance pay- ments of various types were dir tributed by the Soviet government last year, and the annual sum will be nearly doubled in the next four years.

Of the total paid cat last year, 069,200,000 roubles, the largest amount, $39,700,000 roubles went for sickness insurance to workers incapacitated for brief periods. Invalids and their families, includ- ing these retired on sccount of old ago, drew pensions to the amonat of 203,800,000 roubles

Unemployment doles were, dis- tributed to the amount of 119,700,000 roubles. Sanatoria and houses of rost, also paid for out of the social insurance fund, cost 35,800,000 roubles; other forms of medical ́in-" spection and assistance came to 240,600,000 roubles.

The demand for raw silk from abroad has been unusually small for the last few months and prices81.10 have been low. This is attributed to the dullness of the silk piece goods market abroad and also to the increase of the production of Japanese silk. During July, some 6,385 bales of raw silk were export-18 ed showing a decrease of 1,000 bales 21/ on the previous month. Of this amount, 4,712 bules went to the United States, 1,573 to France and 100 bales to Britain.
