THE WAR OF THE FUTURE.

GERMAN GENERAL'S VIEW,

London-The Evening Standard publishes an article on the war of the future by General You Seeckt, who was coinmander of the Gar- man Army for a number of years | after the War.

The General declares that the

Club and the Chinese Recreationable for a remarkable vistery to two Gloucester defasted Glamorgan by outcome of an armed conflict de

Club in the "B" Division was de- cided on Saturday when, alte gether, fire postponed matches were played off. Hitherto both had an unbeaten record so that the result had a very important bear- ing on the League Table.. The Chinese Recreation Club won, not unexpectedly, on their opponents' courts to the time of eight ents to cas, leaving no doubt that they were the superior team. The win- ners, who are now the only un- beaten team, are at the top of the Table with eight points to their credit and are likely to finish the season in that enviable "position.

Three other matches were decid- ed in this division. By beating Kowloon Cricket Club, the Indian Recreation Cluh wrenched them selves from the wooden spoon pesi- tion in the Table Incidentally they gained their initial point of the season. M.B.K. retained their third position by beating South Chica, while the Royal Engines:s and Signallers were successful against the TM.C.A.

In the only match decided in the "C" Division, Craigengower beat the Royal Engineers and Signallers,

WALL 6FT. HIGH AND 19FT. WIDE.

During excavations in the Con- vent Garden, Chester, a Roman'wall has been found, twelve feet, thick, faced on both sides with blocks of sandstone about "three feet square, and having an interior of sands tone rubble. The stones are laid and the wall, without mortar, which was found at a depth of six feet, extended downwards for further six feet. There can be little doubt that it was a Roman defen aive wall running obliquely from a south-west angle of the fortress to the river bank, and thus deny ing the enemy access to the region which lay between the south wall of the fortress and the river.
