The Government, from to-day, is giving on the Island a twelve- hour street fountain supply of water, An earlier announcement stated that in the Central District and Wanebai District, from Queen's Road northward, the street fountain supply would be cut off, but as a result of further representations by the three Chinese members of the Legislative Council no existing street fountains at Wanchai will be cut off. The tank supply was to be continued up to o'clock this morning. The Island's supply was increased by 50 million gallons yesterday morning, bringing the total in storage to 432) million gallons (not counting the 10 million galldas or so in the service reservoirs).
