Mr. Loung points out that the Chinese hold the 100 yards breast: stroke and the 100 yards back stroke for Hong Kong. He argues that although these strokes might not be speedy enough to be considered speed swimming, these events are important enough to be included in the Olympic Games.

Whether an event is included in the Olympic events or not does not enter into the question. If Mr. Leung will say definitely that there is,any school of swimming where the breast stroke or the back stroko is taught because of the speed it gives, I am willing to take a back seat. I always thought the "crawl" was the thing, "and in this depart- ment I am sure Mr. Leung will be the first to agree with me that although the Chinese possess some very good exponents, they have not yet provided a champion.

A to the coach, what I had in mind was a coach for those who were on the threshold of their swimming careers and not for these who have, like your correspondent, swum for years. Those who go in for awimming know Mr. Loung Tit Sang as a good swimmer, but oven in his case, I would say that had he been properly coached at the right time, he would have done much better and would probably have some open championship in- speed "swimming to bis name.-
