Don't Start Racing Too Soon. The majority of swimmers are in- clined to enter the field of competi- tion without proper training, and this tendency has often served so ruin the prospects of many a swimmer, who has paid heavily for failing to realise the necessity for study of the rudi ments of the art. Success in racing depends chiefly on the form of the person who is training. and it is a great mistake for novices to enter contest without the required practice. Training should be done on a moderate scale, and no speed- ing should be attempted until all movements are perfectly carried out instinctively.
