Owner of the promissory nete, Li Yik Yee, giving evidence yesterday said that on leaving for Canton in May, he had handed the document to the first witness to collect whatever he could against it. He had not given anyone authority to accept part payment. Asked if he had empowered a man named Hung Po Wah to negotiate for the dual settlement of the note, witness stated that he had not done so, and Hung had no right to do so. The hearing was adjourned until Friday afternoon.
