MARINE COURT CASES,

Two charges". were preferred against the mistress of a passenger beat namely, 1, for mooring at a dis- tance of less than 100 yards from the low water mark between 9 pm, and 5.m. in the vicinity of the Canton Wharf on the 27th inst. and, for failing to produce her licens when called upon to do so by the police.

The second charge was withdrawn as the police discovered since that accused was merely looking after the boat for the mistress, who had gone marketing. She was décord- ingly fined $10 or 10 days' imprison- ment on the first charge. Comdr. J. B. Newill, D.S.Q.; R.N., was the Magistrate.

SHIP'S NEW NAME.

The 5.8. AW. Brekke arrived from Chinwangtao yesterday mora ing carrying a cargo of coal for this port. She is the late s.s. Elida Clause, having charged her name some months ago. Built in 1920 by Messrs. N. V. Machinefaben Schp van P. Smit, jr., she is a steel screw steamer of 2,471 tons gross and 1,443 nett. The engines were installed by the builders and develope 301 H.P. The vessel's dimensions are: Length 287.0, Breadth 45.9, and Beam 20.5.
