The owner of a steam launch was before the Hon. Comdr. G. F. Hole, R.N., at the Marine Court yester-Beneruachan, British str., day for not having on board the vessel the number of life belts re- quired by daw, Accused pleaded guilty and a fine of $100 with the alternative of 3 months was im posed.

The owner of the Leung Tai was brought up on the same charge. He also pleaded guilty and was fined 200 with the "alternative of six mantha.

A Now Arrival.

The s.3. Sipora (Dutch) which arrived here yesterday was making her first visit to this port. She ar rived from Samarinda with a cargo of 2,000 tons of coal, and later pro- eeeded, to Canton where she will discharge 1,500 tons of her present
