DEMOLITION OF PUBLIC ENCLOSURE BEGUN.
RECONSTRUCTION IN SECTIONS.
Soon after the close of Saturday's racing, housebreakers' pickaxes commenced their work of demoli tion on a portion of the stands in the public enclosure of the Hong Kong Jockey Club premises in ne cordance with "the reconstruction programme which will provide a modern structure at least in line with, that at, Shanghai.
Four aisles, including the public betting space with owners private stands above, and the row of stables. are being rated to the ground. A fence will be erected alongside the demolished portion, and rebuilding will commence almost immediately.
Betting In a Matshed! The weighing room and jockeys "room will remain as at present for the next two-days meeting commenc- ing on May 19, and will not be altered until the rebuilding of the adjacent block is completed. Some inconvenienes may probably be anticipated in the public enclosure hy backers of ponies at the next meeting, hut this will be minimised if not almost entirely obviated by erecting a temporary matshed with full betting facilities..
As there will be no more meetings after the May event until Septem ber, the work of reconstruction of the premises proper will really begin soon after the 20th instant The block between the grand stand and the paddock in the members' the enclosure, comprising H.E. Governor's stand. Press" box, tea rooms, etc., will then be demolished and rebuilding begun at once.

OFFICIAL ADVICE TO

Open-air Life.
It is most important that we should diminish massive or repeat- ed infection, and this can be done
by aceing that advanced cases are properly isolated at home or in in- stitutions. We disinfect after death or removal. We teach causes not to infect, others, so that they are not THE at all a danger to others, and no one needed be. afraid of a careful consumptive. Children are especial ly susceptible, and we aim to get them away from cases..
