THE BERLIN OPERA. HERR WALTER WITHDRAWS HIS RESIGNATION. Herr Bruno Walter is not to be lost to "Berlin after all. Since he announced bis decision to resign the directorship of the Municipal Opera every effort has been made to find a solution of the dispute, artistic rather than financial, which led to it.

Herr Walter and Herr Tietjen,. the General Intendant, have long been enger to carry out a far-reach- ing scheme for the co-ordination of the municipal and the two State opera houses, between which hither. tu only a loose working agreement has existed under Herr Tietjen. It was part of the scheme that the artistic control of all three operas should be in Herr Walter's hands, but this could not be accomplished before 1832 without the consent of Herr Kleiber, the musical director of the State Opera in Unter den Linden, who has a contract with the Prussian Government.
