TROUBLE ABOARD THE CHARLES HARDOUIN.
Keen interest was shown by the local shipping community on Saturday, in a case in which Chow Jar Hoo, manager of the Sai Nam Steamship Co., was charged at the instance of Alfred George Corbin, Chief Officer of the & Charles Hardouin,
The ss. Charles Hardouin, which belongs to defendant's firm, was approaching Castle Peak Bay ou April 15, when it is alleged that defendant, being a passenger, did unlawfully, and without the 'per- mission of the Officer in Charge go to the Navigation Bridge of the ship whilst under way. Further it is alleged that he behaved in such a manner as to impede the Chief Officer in the navigation of the ship.
fx. F. H. Losely appeared for the defence, and asked for.a formal 300 remand. The Magistrate fixed the hearing for to-morrow (Tuesday)
at 10.30. L.III.
Six Passengers in Excess. The master of a cargo boat on pleading guilty to carrying six passengers in excess of the proper number was fined $18, with the alternative of two weeks hard labour by Comdr. G. F. Hole.
No Deck and Load Limes. The master of the Kum Ling was summoned for neglecting to have his ship marked with deck and load lines within the waters of the Colony on April 15.
Mr. D. H. Blake who appeared for the defence pleaded guilty.
