RIVER STEAMERS. IN DIFFICULTIES.

The water in the West river con- tinues to be very low and the passage to Wuchow and other West river ports is extremely difficult. On her voyage from Wuchow the 5.3. Sanning approached the a. Sun Sai Kai which was ashore near Kwong Hay. At the same time the 3.5. Fook On was approaching in the opposite direction and while attempting to pass the vessels the Sanning struck a gand bank. All the cargo

Was dix- charged and after being aground for sometime the Sanning manag ed to get off. It then being. very dark, the Master decided to anchor for the night. The Fook On proceeded on her way without mishap..

Expensive Billets. The mistress of a cargo boat was

fined 810 at the Marine Court yesterday by Comdr. G. F. Hole, R.N., for unlawfully mooring her hoat at a distance of less than 100 yards from the low water mark near the Cheung Chau Ferry Whari on 24 inst.

A similar charge was brought against the steersman of another cargo boat; for mooring within a hundred yards of the low water mark at Sai Yung Pun.. Accused pleaded guilty and was fined $10.

A Fisherman's Dynamite. The master of a fishing boat who appeared before Mr. T. S.. Whyte Smith at the Kowloon Magistracy yesterday morning for having in his possession a quantity of dynamite and, fnur detonators was fined $10. He said he had had the dynamite for two years.
