CANTON, Maich 18th. Demobilisation and military re- organisation in the province of Kwangtung are being efficiently car ried out, in accordance with the Nanking scheme. The 4th Army, änder General Chen Tsai Tong, and the 16th Army under General Fan Shek Sheng, have been thoroughly réorganised and greatly reduced in size. There are

at present five armies in the two Kwang provinces and these are to be reduced to divisions. All army officers are baring to accept lower rank and a large number are to be paid off.

General Far Shek Sheng wired to-day saying that he has carried out orders and has now assumed the rank of Divisional Commander. Previously his force consisted of the 46th and 46th Divisions, with a total of about 10,000 men. Of these nearly 4,000 have been discharged. The General asked the Canton Government for 200,000 expenses, but he was only granted $40,000. The money has gone in arrears of pay and gratuities, and about 1,000 of his superfluous troops have ar- rived in Canton during the last few days by the Canton-Hankow Railway.
