FLOATING WRECKAGE-DAN- GEROUS TO NAVIGATION

A notification to Mariners posted at the Harbour Office states that a floating wreckage was sighted by the Master of the s.&. War Brahmin on February 5th, at 11.30 am in Lat. 18. 08 N., and Long. 113° 69- E. The master considers the wreck- age dangerous to navigation.

Two New Arrivals: Dutch and American

Two new vessels were shown on the Harbour list of entries for & an, yesterday. They were the sa Siantar (Dutch) and sa. Sirius. (American).

The as. Siantar arrived from San Francisco and Los Angeles with a heavy cargo of oil fuel. She is owned by the Rotterdamsche Lloyd' -(Messrs. Rys & Company mgrs.) and the Java-China-Japan Ljin are the local agents. She was built in 1921 by Messrs W. Gray & Co. (1918), Ltd, of Sunderland; with a nett tonnage of 5,349 sons and gross tonnage of 8,435 tons. She has two 3,500 steam turbine engines geared to a single propeller shaft and develops 600 N.H.P. Her engines were in- stalled by the Cen. Mar. Engineer- ing Works Lts, of Hartlepool. Her dimensions are Length 433 ft., Bear 57.4 ft., and Depth 38.4 ft.

Four Chinese members of the crew of the steamer Changte were charged at the Central Police Court, Sydney, with being in pos Bession of 30 tins of opium, valued at $300,

The master of the . Chinbur (British) arriving from Haiphong and Hoihow reports having gone aground on the Bakiha Banks in the Hainan Straits. The report also states that the bank is extend: ing to the westward in Lat. 20° 07' N., and Long, 110°, 25′′. E.
