RETURNS.

VERY HIGH IMPORTS - FOR SATURDAY.

THROUGH FREIGHTS VERY GOOD.

The general cargo returns for the week and were on the whola vory

good. On Saturday the local im porta were very high, with fairly

good through freights. Yesterday's returns showed moderate importa with heavy cargo for through ports. Thirty-five arrivals and twenty- eight departures were shown of

which eleven arrivals and twelve departures were British..

Saturday's Figures. The twenty arrivals and fifteen departures for the 24 hours ended at 9 am on Saturday showed ex ceptionally heavy cargoes for this port. Through freights were also good,

Filicen vessels discharged, 27,307 tons, of which 9,2M tons were con tributed by two British ships. The two best return were from the s.s. Tjikembang (Dutch) from Soura- baya and Batavia with 8,543 tons of sugar and general marchandise, and the sis. Mekeiye Maru (Japan-, ese) from Wakamatsu and Sakito with 4,999 tons of coal.

Cargo for through ports anout.. ed to 10,116 tous. Three British ships contributed $16 tons. The

two heaviest carriers were the s President Pierce (American) from Seatilo and Shanghai with 4,173 tons of general merchandise, and the . Tjikembang (Dutch) from. Batavia with 2018 tons of anga and general merchandise.

Sunday's Slatement. Yesterday's. freight returns, show ed a decrease in local imports, but a heavy total for through freights. There wore fifteen arrivals and thirteen departures, of which six arrivals and six departures were British

Cargo from nine vessels for Hong Kong amounted to 8,481 tons. Five British ships contributed 7,071 tons.

The two best returns were from. the 68. Glengarry (British).frem Middlesborough and Singapore with 2,800 tods of general cargo, and the E. V. Courageous (Ameri- can) from Baltimore and Manila with 2,270 tons of oil fuel.
