The rain in the earlier part of the week has certainly done the a lot of good, but it can naturally stand plenty more without coming to any harm. The top-dressing of sand, which had been put down on the first six and the last five greens the week before, has been washed well in and the effect has certainly been good. Now most of tht, remaining greens. have been treated in the same way. Over the weekend the coure was playing a good deal longer than has been the case for some time past, but one rather doubts if that vas due in any great measure to the rain. The something warm booth and the afternoon tea booth were as easy spots as it was pos- sible to find, Herein were to be found many of our prominent race followers enjoying the openhanded hospitality which the K.C.S.B.'s know how to dispense. Outside in the open two or three judiciously placed charcoal stone fires were the recipients of much attention by those who found the weather a little
parky
as they made frequent visits to and from the betting booths. Here, in addition to the #5 Pari Mutuel 81 Totalisator betting booth had been installed and it proved the most popular fea ture of the afternoon's entertain- ment judging by the density of the crowd which congregated before and
and after each event.
Although quite a mumber of spills occurred during the afternoon, happily none proved serious, which speaks well for the agility of those
concerned.
