YESTERDAY'S FREIGHT
RETURNS.
VERY HEAVY IMPORTS AND THROUGH CARGO,
BRITISH: VESSELS HEAVIEST CARRIERS.
The general cargo retums during the 24 hours ended at 8 am yester day ward very good. Gargo for this port showed a substantial increase over the previous day's Agures. Through freights were also very good, with heavy contributions from British ships, Twenty arrivals and twenty-ona departures were shown for the 24 hours ended at 9 am. yesterday of which aine arrivals and eight departures were British.
Nineteen vessels discharged 25,514 tons of general merchandise for Hong Kong of which 9,424 tons were contributed by eight British ships. The heaviest carriers were the As Shimla (British) from

The Kongmoon river steamer, s.2. Kwong Fook Cheong, which left Hong Kong on Monday evening for Kongmoon went aground on the Swash, at the Kongmoon Bar, and was reported by the masters of the passing river steamers to be high and dry. The vessel is not without protection as the British gunboat H.M.S. Moth, is standing by to prevent any attempt at piracy. It is not expected that the vessel will refloat for a day or two, owing to the very low water.

A notification to Marinera sent to the Harbour Master by the Royale Naval Armament Department states that a quantity of fireworks will be burnt for proof purposes as Stonecutters Rifle Range on Friday (to-morrow) afternoon."
Another notification received from the Military Authorities states.that searchlight practice will be carried out as under-January 18th at Stonecutters; 19th and 20th January at Lymun, and on January 20th it Lyemun..
Casualties.
The master of the French steater Sphinx which arrived here from Marseilles and Singapore' reports that three casualties occurred a board during the voyage on Decem- bar 23rd, 29th, and January 8th. No detaile

A New American Arrival. The 3.6. Chinese Arrow (Ameri- can) which arrived here from Calcutta was making her first visit to this port. The vessel, which is under the command of Captain G. W. Peterson, anchored at Lai Chi Kok, where he is discharging a cargo of oil fuel at the Standard Oil Company of New York's in- stallation works.
Four B.I. Vessels In Port. Four British and India Steam Navigation Company's vessel were in port yesterday. They were the as. Sirdhana, Shirala, Dalogma and Tilawa, Later in the day the a Tilawa left for Amey, while the sa Sirdhana sailed for Cal cutta.
