LAST SEASON'S WINNERS.

The smoking concert and prize distribution held at the Kowloon Cricket Club on Saturday night was very successful. A well varied pro- gramme, which everyone present en- joyed, was given by the Concert Party of H.M.S. Hermes.

ALLEGED CYCLE THEFT.

BY MAN SENT TO RETRIEVE LOST MACHINE.

A Chinese was sentenced to six weeks' imprisonment by Mr. E,"W, Hamilton at the Kowloon Magis tracy on Saturday morning for atealing a bicycle from the shop where he was employed on, Decem- ber 10th last.

Two boys were stated to have hired a cycle but failed to return it The defendant was sent out to look for the cycle, found it at King's Park but went back to his. em- ployee and said that the cycle could not be found. In the meantime he had sold the machine to a dealer in Hunghom.

The latter was also charged with. receiving and evidence taat the de fendatit bought the cycle was given by the defendant in the previous CBSC. The Magistrato reserved judgment until this morning.

On Friday evening, the Dutch Community entertained them to dinner at the Repulse Bay Hotel, where an enjoyable, evening was spent. The speeches were few and short, the outstanding one being the one in honour of Her Majesty Queen Wilhelmina.

On Saturday, the Consul General and the Heads of the Netherlands firms entertained His Excellency the Governor, Major-General Luard, Commodore. Hill; Members of the Executive and Legislative Councils, the Portuguess Consul General, Doyen of the Consular Body, and the Japanese Cousal General, the f Puise Judge (Mr. Justice Jacks) and others at luncheon, to meet the Admiral, Captain Dalhuisen and Officers. The only toasts were the loyal toasts to His Majesty the King Netherlands, respectively given by and Her Majesty the Queen of the

Commodore Hill gave a dinner in honour of the Dutch Admiral on Saturday evening.
