THE NEW SPORTS DRESS.

ITS VARIETY AND VALUE.

There is more variety about the newest sports and country clothes than there has been for some time. So much so, indeed, that the people who look their very best in heavy, rough tweeds, and the people who feel unhappy in anything which has no suggestion of softness about it, have equally good reasons for feel ing pleased.

Another school of sartorial thought prefers the tweed cardigan with a jumper and small suit, triangular scarf made in a very soft and light yet rather thick looking woven material. If the suit is neutral or sombre in colour the jumper and scarf are very gay. If the auit is fairly bright the jumper and scarf are quieter."

Hats To Match The Buils.

I noticed some very smart felt hats to match several of these suits. One of them in's warm taupe colour has a fairly wide brim which is pleated back towards the crown like à fan in front. Another is a turban shape and is made of belge felt and deep taupe velours de laine which are combined to give a very smart and original line.

The Best Is Cheapest In The

End."

The great advantage of buying a really good felt hat is that it can so easily be adjusted to suit any face. The material is beautifully soft and the shape has been arrived at by means of draping. A snip with a pair of scissore and a stitch with a needle is all that is needed to give a goed model the line most becoming to your face.

AN OPPORTUNITY.

HAT, FROCKS AND JUMPER SUITS.

The sale at the Dolly Vardon Hat Shop has been going with awing as the sales there always do, but there.

are still some excellent bargains to be had. Every- thing is being included in the sale, with the exception of the Daisy de Luxe bags and a great proportion of the bats, etc., are offered at half price.

A Tempting Window.

I saw a most tempting window of felt hats all marked at 85 the other day, and some won- derful tailored woollen sports «zuits marked down to only $40. I can speak with particular confidence of these far I have one myself bought couple months ago, which, after hard wear, still looks as if it has just been unpacked.

Evening Frocks.

There are, too, a few pretty even- ing and afterboon dresses for about 825 to $30, and I believe one or two woollen jersey cloth dresses are still left The Dolly Vardon Hat Shop sale is always well worth attending, for the stock is cleared right out at no matter what sacrifice in order to make room for the new season's goodła,
