EVENING SHOES FROM LANE; CRAWFORD'S. ·
Evening shoes for dancing hours interest every woman who dances, and that in these days means very hearly all women.
The womda with a properly developed" clothes "Bense "above all realises the im-. portance of having her feet fitly and beautifully clad, for shoes are of enormous importance to the en- semble.
Even now that the skirts of our evening frocks are taking to them-. selves extra yards and becoming nearly as long as those we, or our mathere, wore in the long ngo, we bave not learnt to hide our feet and let them creep in and out" like the little mice to which the poet compared those of his modest lady love. Modern freedom and the charleston have brought them into i prominence from which it will be hard to banish them again, and indeed with the very lovely coverings which are now designed to make them attractive it would be a thousand pities if they were banished.
Gold and silver which are play.
ing so important part in all dress to-day are, of course, very popular for evening shoes, although the claims of black satin very slightly trimmed with diamanté must not be forgotten.
Among the new evening shoes which have just arrived in Lane, Crawford's all have spike heels and most of them a sandel strap, while Beveral pairs have the sandel cut away side. There is a black satin pair with a star of diamanté atd silver thread in front, and another, cut away at the side, which is nar- rowly bound with silver kid.
Plain gold kid also has a small star of diamante, while silver kid. is trimmed with a stamped collar and strap. The atrapping arrange- ment of one pair of nude satin evco- ing shoes is novel and very pretty, and another deeper coloured nude satin has a tiny edging of diamanté. A silver edging and strap trims an otherwise plain black satin shoe.
BASQUE EVENING FROCK.
A narrow basque, composed of miniature paillettes which bave the appearance of tiny mirrors and sparkle. in the light, adorns come of the newest evening frocks. The

cambric underwear, it is not too soon for those who enjoy making these things for themselves. The time slips by very quickly, and the fine stitchery and embroidery takes plenty of time if you would do it well and enjoy the doing. In the piece, goods department of LANE, CHAWFORD'S I found white and coloured tarantulle and also white and coloured linen cambric. They have, too, some very lovely colours in old bleach linea for table sets, bed spreads, etc.

PATCHWORK SPORTS
JUMPER.
This novel ruède suit for sports has its jumper actually in patchwork, in black, yellow and red with metal fastening and tabs. The ride is as soft as silk-but provides the warmth required for sports wear.
The ikirt is made in the new suide finished velour in the same shade of red as the patchex in the jumper. The black taupe hat has its quil cut in suède.

Tallor Made Hats. Cher Fax this week I saw some very attractive tailor mando felt bats. Some of them have plain gold or metal buckles and one black felt had a double trimming band of velvet and à green stone mount. I noticed several vagaband" shapes among them."-
