THE BRIGHTON AQUARIUM.
NEW BUILDING TAKING SHAPE.
PROMENADE TERRACES ON THE ROOF.
Visitors in their hundreds of thousands have, during the past few months, viewed with interest the
and witnessed the. transformation scene at Brighton Aquarium, gradual rising from the ashes of the old building, long associated with Brighton, of a new Aquarium which will be an ornament of which the town may justly be proud. It is hoped to open the new building next. Whitsuntide.
An exterior, of noble desiga and spaciousness, will prove pleasant. sight from any angle, and the ter races, linking up with the existing Madeira-terrace, will be generally appreciated from any point of ries.
I have made a tour of inspection at this new Palace of Pleasure, ua- der the guidance of Mr. George Welter, manager of the Aquarium, and Mr. Bridle, Chairman of the Aquarium Committee.
As far as the main entrance is concerned, a definite scheme has not yet been decided upon. At the foot of the steps are the entrances to the Aquarium proper and to a spacious and pleasantly designed restaurant with domed ceiling.
The Aquarium is going to be much alive as regards its aqua-marine be retained. The original main exhibits, for some 40 tanks are to corridor will remain, but the tanks are undergoing a transformation process New systems of lighting and aerating the water are being installed, so as to afford a clearer view of the exhibits.
