Nanking weavers have recently turned out a new kind of silk called chung than chou, named after Dr. Sun Yat Sen. It is an in proved kind of the ning chou, made in imitation of light woollens, the object being to recommend the new fabric to the public for making dress suits in substitution for im- ported woollens. The new fabric differs from other silks in that: (1)
renovated by dyeing, (2) it does not crumple as easily as other silks, and (3) it produces no rustling sound when the wearer moves. The fabric can be either plain, fignared, or do signed as imported woollens.
