The revenue for 1029 up to the end of August, excluding land sales, compared was $14,559,917,96, with 13,171,508.50 for the similar period in 1927. The land sales up to August, 1929, were 8872,556.80 s against $74.506.54 for the "first eight months of 1927, making the total revetiue to August, 1998, $15,432,80-1,46

as compared with $13,208,103.41 for the similar period

in 1927.

The expenditure during the best eight months of 1925 $12,019,756.84 as against a sum of 812,450,408.00 for the similar period last year

The Canton share market was very active last week, and since the return of Marshal Li Tsai Hain from the North, business has been somewhat established, with the re ault that shares in several public industries and syndicates have found ready buyers.

Electric Powers have changed hands at 85, and Canton Bankow Rallways-which were offered for sale, with ce biryera, as 80.45 two weeks ago-are now quoted at 80.49 with randy buyers. China Mer chant Steamships are steady at $6.40. Central Bank is firm at $4.00. Canton Tramways have gone up to 31.00 from 31.60, with the Sun Company Auctuating between 36.30 and 88 10. Waterworks were dealt with at 83.20. Sincere Com- panys have risen from $8.80 to 800, with rendy buyers.

According to a telegram received on Friday last from Shanghai bywood-oil market is quiet owing to Auctuations of quotations making Canton cotton yarn dealers, it was stated that there had been no fur foreign buyers afraid to enter into The bean-oil market ther increase in the prices of fine yarns. There had been fewer en quiries, and the actual business done was nil. The "Shanghai mar- ket is expected to be active again in the course of the next week.
