Electric propulsion for the pro- posed new ships is said to have been "sold" to the Dollar Line following a recent trip made by Captain Hobert Dollar on board the Panamm Pacific electric finer California. During the trip the doyen of American shipping spent mont of the time in the engine room of the vessel, · ·

In making the general announce- ment of plans for the building of the four new vessels Mr. Dollar said that contracts for the con- struction of the first ship of the first group of four will be awarded before the first of the year and it will be ready for service in about two years, the other three to follow at intervals of a year each.
