as a syndicate bought many art treasures from the Princess's palace at Czarskowe Selo, near Petrograd. These treasures were, it is alleged, sold by the Bolsheviks and bought by the syndicate in good faith The Princess alleges that the Bal sheviks stole her property, and she is now trying to recover it.
In the meanwhile the treasureË, contained in more than 200 huge cases, are in a bonded warehouse in the docks at Wapping, E. The syndicate which purchased them as apeculation have made no attempt to deal with them in any way since last May, when Princess Paley nade flying visit to London to consult her legal advisers, Messrs. Lewis and Lewis, and to initiate the action which is to come before the courts on November 28th,

Great importance is attached to- the action, and failing a settlement Princess Paley will be represented in the courts by Mr. W. A. Jowitt,
Sir Patrick Hastings, K.C., has been briefed by Messra Campbell, Hooper and Todd on behalf of an Englishman who is the principal defendant, and who, it is alleged, actually negotiated the deal with the Bolsheviks in Russia.
