WASHINGTON, Nov. 2nd. White House officials to-day stated that President Coolidge has not contemplated the appointment of a commission to survey the Philip- pines sægar situation, as has been reported.

Hong Kong has always been de- pendent on Kwangsi, Iloihow and the West River ports for its supply of poultry, and now that very few fowls are coming into, the Colony, prices have gone up. This is due to this year's bad crops, and farmers. have been so badly hit that they have not been able to afford to rear poultry.

Another factor which has coatri- buted in a minor way to the scarcity of chickens, ducks, and geese WLA the great fire sometime ago which had almost wiped out the Lau Chow district. This fire has rendered thousands of farmers homeless and had killed a huge number of the fowls reared in that district.
