MACAO RACES:

MACAO FAIR GYMKHANÄ MEETING.

DISTANCE EVENTS THE PRINCIPAL ATTRACTIONS.

SOME SELECTIONS..

There is every prospect of good-sport at the meeting of the International Race and Recreation Club at Macuo to-morrow af- ternoon.

Quite a number of prominent visitors from Hoog Kong and Canton are to be present, for in addition to the racing they will have an opportunity of paying a visit to the Macao Industriai Fair which opens to-day.

"A large number of ponies have been entered for the meeting the large proportion of which will be representatives of our local pony owners. In addition a 'humber of ponies lately subscribed for by members of the Macao Club will probably make their first Appearance down south.

The President Of Macao Race Clab. Mr. H. H. H. Priestley the Presi- dent of the Macao Race Olub has undoubtedly proved that he is the Club's greatest acquisiton. He de votes a considerable amount of his time to improvements which make for the continued success of every meeting, and there is no disputing the fact that the Club has made à decided advance since he has been at the head of affairs.

in this event and with the assistance of Mr. Clark should make the race very interesting. Westlake owing to his relegation from "B" to "C" Class might have a chance of collecting a little to pay for his upkeep, and Skipper will have to be remembered if either Dr. Reidy or Mr. Stanton rides him. "

The President realizing that a much better view of the races could be had if the stands were nearer the rails, has had the Governor's box removed and it now occupies a position oa the left of the Judge's box. The weighing out room has been removed to the other end of the stand and now faces the paddock enclosure. A wooder ful piece of judgment this, as ex- hausted and hot and bothered joc keys will be able to leave and en- ter the weighing room without hav- ing to scramble through hundreds of people who have been in the habit of sitting on the verandah Just outside."

Glory should have no difficulty in accounting for race number four us he is at the top of his form at the moment and was very unfor tunate to have been defented by Sunning in the half mile sprint. Another five feet would have made all the difference. Sunning and Zittle Nit Tang should provide a thrill for backers in their endeavour to collect the second prize. Cuent and Beukra should not be forgotten if they start here...

Ponies instead of being led through the confined area adjacent to the freat of the main stand will Low make their entrance through a small gate in close proximity to the starters board. These and many other improvements which will be done later should prove to those interested that the future of the Macao Race Club is in comicblung should fight it out be- petent hands.

Ponies From Shanghai,

I am informed that a number of new ponies are due from Shang- hai four of which will probably start at the meeting to-morrow. They have been subscribed for by the Club on behalf of new owners, and as a further nine ponies are expected to arrive sometime during the month it looks as if our neigh bouring colony is going to enter into the business with the same amount of enthusiasm as our local

Dwners.

CANDIDATES CHANCES CON- SIDERED.

I regret I have been unable to make my usual visit to Macao in order to get first hand knowledge of the chances of contestants. Still, I have no doubt my well worn book of form will supply my readers with a few pointers which may be of some assistance to them as a

means of deciding which pony to back when they are placing their little bit.

The November Novices.

With two ponies sticking out it still remains the hardest race on the card to pick. Novice jockeys. do not get much chance of show- ng their ability; consequently any of the riders may upset the pot. Motunagher is without question the best pony in the bunch, if it, but I am afraid he has been badly handled, so I will pass him over and select as my winner Boukra. This pony although he has not won a race during the present season has been very near on occasions Fr. While many things, directly or indirectly, may cause stomach trouble, any medical man will tell you that over nine-tenths of all cases of indigestion are due to or accompanied by acidity, and food' fermentation. Excess acid accumu iates in the stomach and turns the food into a souring, fermenting mass, which produces painful gases and still more acid, and is usually! | directly responsible for indiges- tion, dyspepsia, heartburn, acidity, flatulence, and gastritis. To rid yourself of this harmful acid quickly, safely and surely, you should take a little Biaurated' Magnesia after eating or when pain is felt. This not only gives quick relief by instantly neutralis ing stomach acid, but soothes and heals your acid-inflamed stomach lining. Bisurated' Magnesio (pow. der or tableta) is sold by all chemists at little cost, and is prescribed by doctors and used in hospitals because it is a genuine indigestion specific.
