With only twelve arrivals and eight departures during the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday, sha general cargo returns showed a heavy decrease. Local imports, how ever, were moderate, but through low indeed. freights were very. There were fire British arrivals and three departues, but only one vessel contributed to the cargo totals.

Lachow (British) arrived from Shanghai and Amoy with 1,540 tona of general cargo for Hong Kong and 710 tons for through ports.

"Melville Dollar (American) ar rived from Scattle and Shanghai with 3,000 tons of lumber and 1,500 tons of lumber and Sour for through ports.

Clara Tebion (Danish),"arrived from Saigon with 25,133 bags of rice for Hong Kong.

Raymond Poincare (French) ar- rived from Canton with 150 tons of through cargo.

Hanoi (French) arrived from Haiphong and Fort Bayard with 390 tons of rice and general cargo.

Toyohike Märu (Japanese) ar- rived from Wakamaku and Karatsu with 2,102 tons of coal.

Wing Lee.(Chinese) arrived from Fort Bayard with 300 tons of gen- eral cargo.

Foo Tue (Chinese) arrived from Kwong Chow Wan with 300 tons of general cargo, 94 pigs and heads of cattle.

SHIPPING MOVEMENTS.

The R.M.S. Empress of Russia from Hong Kong on October 24th, left Yokohama on November 1st at 3 p.m., and is due at Vancouver on November 10th.

The P. & D. 8.8. Kashmir left Singapore for Hong Kong on the 20th ult., at 6 am, and is due here today (Saturday), about 8

a.m.

The B.I. s.s. Tilara will leave for Amoy, Shanghai, Moji, Kobo and Osaka at 6 a.m. to-morrow (Sunday), November 4th.

The N.D.L. S. L. Gieaarn left Shanghai on November 1st, and is expected to arrive at Hong Kong to-morrow (Sunday). She will sail for Europe vi Saigon and porte on the same day.
