Lane, Crawford's had just received their first shipment in preparation for the season when I went in last Tusaday. They are to be found in the ladies department and are most attractive. Among them are

dahlias, sun-flowers, turtinis, bunches of autumn leaves and of maiden hair fern, bydrangeas, gladiolus, delphinium and the most adorable bunches of king cupa which take you back to English mendows. It is often a good plan to undo the bunches before arrang ing them and cut the stems to un even lengths, since all flowers of one kind are made on the samt plan. Arranged in a bowl by meaca of a glass or china holder they look quite natural, and very attractive.

AN INVITING PROSPECT,

I wrote something last week about the Simmonds twin beds, in Whiteaway, Laidlaw's, which are made with railed end boards. Yes terday when I went in I saw pair made up as they would be in use and realised what a pretty pattern they are made on

I was tired, that afternoon and felt it was not really quite fair to have put such an inviting prospect be fore me. On each bed was a pair of those lovely soft angora wol blanket bound with satin. fair linen, and an art silk bed spread in blue and gold damask, matching the latter perfectly, were eider- downs of madoana blue satin with floral centre squares in taxes of gold and blue; while behind were bung curtains of gold silk net. Even the possession cf a perfectly good" bed at home would not have deterred me from buying the whole thing as it stood if I had had $150 in my pocket and the cost of the various accessories as well, which domestic happily perhaps, for peace, I had not!

insertions and at the back, since the skirt is cut long behind and short in front, is a petticoat of pale mauve chiffon with a gold lace Bem. The bodice has berthe neck line and is made to it quite closely to the figure.

A wonderfully cut model is ex- pressed in pink and gold lamb It is quite straight and plain in front except for a double skirt which only shows for a few inches. At the back it is cut to a very well shaped, train which flows out from under a plain, narrow belt which buckes in front.

The new chintz velvet, in black with a design of a basket of pink and blue flowere, is used for a not dissimilat model, only in this case the train is modified to longer as the back than the front.
