decrease but remained good. There were eleven arrivals and eighteen departures of which eight arrivals and five departures were British ships. British contributions to the cargo returns were very good, and there was only one foreign through carrier.

Lo Yet, the coxswain of the steam launch Tagar who pleaded not guilty to n summons for failing tu observe the rules of the road in the Yaunti Typhoon Shelter was again before Comdr. J. B. Newill, R.N., D.S.Q., at the Marine Court yesterday morning.

Further evidence was taken of the incident which Lance-Sergt. Wright nileged to have nearly resulted a collision between the police launch and the defendant's boat. The Magistrate reviewed the evidence and finally discharged the defen- dant on the ground that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the summoNIS.

underway ihar-KA bour, Wa8 also.. before Marine Magistrate. The had been remanded on application of the police who said that they wished to call the Chinese coxswain of the Police Launch. This, cox, swain now appeared in Court and gaye evidence of the offence. The Magistrate found the defendant guilty and imposed a fine of $10.

No Lights; But Just About To Holst One!

Tsang Sang. Seaman of a trading junk was summoned for failing to exhibit the correct regulation lights. on his boat. The defendant pleed- ed guilty but said that the lamp was already lit and that he was about to hoist it to the main mast when he was arrested. The Magis- trate imposéd a fine of $10.

Stuck In The Mnd. Lance-Serg, Hill arrested four boat people who were at anchor in the Typhoon Shelter at Causeway Bay without written permission. In reply to the charge they said that they had been carrying passen- gers and cargo which were disem- barked on the praya front. They | were unaware of the low tide and. in their attempt to clear the Shelter they got stuck in the mud!

All four defendants were fined 85 each.

Scarlet Fever Buspected.

The master of the P. & O. liner Macedonia which arrived from London and Singapore reports a case of suspected scarlet fever on board.

Asiatic Deck Passengers. Five vessels brought 1,054 Asiatic deck passengers to the Colony dur. ing the 24 hours ended at 9 am Festerday.
