One model in putty coloured grosgrain is braided all over with chenille, and another green felt is cut up the front to display a "feather" OF folded grosgrain ribbon. A very smart sports hat has been carried out in beige felt which has a faint plaid in a deeper tone. The lines of the plaid have been stitched over with red silk and the effect is both chic and workmanlike.

Many hats of the close fitting Variety have a longer section on one side, rather like the check feathers of last year but made all in one with the hat. One such model is composed of three different tones of wine red velvet joined in "moder- histic" lines.
