Another new silk is khabi créue which is a thin closely woven crêpe suitable for underwear or slips.

At the bottom of the case was some flannel. There was the well- known Japaness flannel for kimono in a variety of bold gay patterns, and also in small polka dot designs which would make charming kiddies frocks; and a thicker white, flannel guaranteed all wool which has a nice soft surface and might be

used for, winter underwear or for between season frocks.

HINTS ON BEING PHOTOGRAPHED,

So many photographs are dis appointing, mostly because the sitter does not know how to help, and it is wise to practise different poses in front of a mirror for several days before going to the photographer,

Try your head in every conceiv able way and look at yourself from all angles with the aid of a hand- mirror. But remember that each pose should have a definite idea behind it some thought 'you, wish

to express. It does not matter which emotion you choose to por. tray, but it is essential to express something intelligent.

If your thoughts are wandering or muddled you will pot make a good photo- graph.

Almost anyone is a better judge than you ste yourself. A benevolent Provid- ence has made it impossible for us to see ourselves as others see us, and consequently as we really are. And artist friend, if you have one, is the best of all judges.

Photographers are generally will- ing to help, but ane should cot follow their advice blindly, With rare exceptions they are not artistic in the trucat sense. They should always be asked to set plenty of light and shade on the face. The

A large shipment of new goods is waiting to be unpacked and what remains of the present stock is to he sold at quite ridiculously low prices. A visit on Saturday (to- morrow) would be wise for it is not likely that much be left after the news gets round.

still continuing for a day or two, and there are some very lovely silks to be had at much reduced prices, and undies of all sorts, be sides various other treasures.

PAMELA tells me that her sale is to continue for some time yet, and she is getting a steady stream of customers who are taking advan- tage of the reduced prices. now flower, belt or scarf can give an added lease of life and a quite new meaning to a well worn

garment.

"Plus Que Jamais Des Points.” The scarf fashion is still in its hey day, "Plus que jamais des points! | say nearly all the lead- ing Paris couturiers, showing fresh spotted fabrics straight from the manufacturers. In most cases four materials go to each range. There is, for example, a silk having

have an enormous triangle of silk to match the waist kerchief which worn with the right air is extremely chic.

Buttonholes Are Larger.

I looked over the new flowers 100, and saw that button holes are both larger and gayer than they were at the beginning of the season. Wool, felt and rubber are all pressed into service to make bright- ly coloured bunches of flowers. Some of them have ornamental grasses and look as if they were picked during a wander down an herbaceous border, others are more sophisticated in style. The evening Bowers are large and stronger, polours seem to be ousting the love- ly pastel shades to which we have been accustomed Reds predominat- ed in rich wine shades. -

Kerchief Ensembles.

Another new fashion is the ker- chief ensemble of which I found several examples in Lane, Craw- ford's. There is E neck handker- chief, a narrow belt and a smartly tailored flower, all made of the same material, which is, of course, spotted. Other kerchiefs are flower printed and are made of all sorts of materials. There is one in flesh coloured georgette, with a massed pattern of green leaves, and pink and blue flowers in the centre, which is intended for evening use. Cotton voile, white with blue and red flowers is meant to drape the. shoulders of a white voile frock. Very smart is a huge triangle of double beige crêpe de chine, which has navy blue petale appliqué round two sides and a "monogram" in broiderie anglaise.. Some of the kerchiefs are square, and can be used either as capes or folded round. the hips, others are a triangle, which is generally considered easier to weap
