The July Criminal Sessione opened yesterday and three cases out of four were concluded. Two Chinese charged with highway robbery appeared before Mr. Justice P. Jacks. It was stated by the prosecution that one of the prisoners had jumped inte a pond after the robbery. He was up to his neck in water and it was only through the gentle but persuasive "bamboo polce" of a number of peasants that the culprit was induced to get cut of the water.
