What was the first thing said when we sighted land? Stultz saw it first, but he could not say anything as he was eating a sandwich." He just threw the sand. wich away and "pointed.
"I Never Worried.". Did I ever feel bad on the way across! Wouldn't you just love me to say I did?" she laughed. "No, Stultz was too good a pilot, and I never worried. We never saw 4BY- thing owing to the fog.'
The reporter then asked whether she had received any offers for the films.
With a characteristically "frm gesture of her hand, she went away the suggestion and then smoothed back her hair. "I've had telegrams and cables for vaude- ville and films," she said, "but I'm pot taking any. I'm going back to work."
On her journey from Southamp ton to London Miss Earhart stop- ped to look at Winchester Cathe dral, which greatly impressed her.
This is the most lovely country I've ever seen," she said, "better than I ever dreamed. I saw a lot of it from the aeroplane as we flew low to Southampton owing to fog. Now I'm going to bed." She ross and made her way to her bedroom, just stopping to give another of her

SOUTHAMPTON. Mia Earhart broke down her shyness when I spoke to her after her arrival here to-day from Burry Port, writes a Pressman,
But there can never have been a more modest heroine of such a great adventure. She tried hard to avoid talking to anyone of the flight or of her feelings, and it was only with the greatest difficulty that I persuaded her, after she had A. B. MOULDER & CO. had a rest and lunch, to tell me

I never had a moment's fear because I had implicit faith in Mr. Wilmer Stultz, the pilot, and Mr. Gordon, the mechanic. The conditions were terrible, and I felt very sorry for the two men, who had to use all their skill and patience to get the Friendship acrosz. We passed through snow. rain, and interminable fog.
Tearing Through Space. The fog was so bad that we saw the sea for only an hour and a half. We had to it up there in the Friendship, the only people in the world, so it seem- ed, tearing along through space.
But still I had no fear, not even when Mr. Stultz turned to me and said that we had only enough, petrol to last us for another hour's flying. And there was no land in sight.
Then I asked Miss Earhart what She replied: was the most thrilling moment.
Well, I can assure you"it was a great thrill to know we had only sufficient petrol for an hour's flight. It was a great thrill, too, when we saw the liner America off Ireland. But certainly the greatest thrill of all was when we saw land."
Even when making this remark bliss Earhart showed, no emotion. She added:
Mr. Watts said that Mr. Ingman was anxious to have if known that he did not desire any damages for himself. It was his desire to settle whatever sum was granted on his daughter..
י
Mr. Ingman was granted a de- erec nisi and the custody of the child.
The award of £10,000 for damages in a divorce suit has not been ex- eceded for many years, but in 1905 Mr. Demetrius Sophocles Constan- tinidi was awarded £25,000 against Dr. Lance.
