THROUGH CARGOES TOTAL 47,000 TONS.

General merchandise for Hong Kong was good but through cargoes showed an exceedingly high total of over 47,000 tons. Five of the BOTICA. foreign Yessels carrying through cargo had totals of over 6,000 tons. British vessels were best importers, but two lareign vessels were best through cargo carriers.

Twenty arrivals and sixteen de- partures were recorded of which eight arrivals and five departures were Bitish remails.

Seventeen ships discharged cargo for Hong Kong amounting to 15,181 Seven British ships con- tributed 9,073 tons, and the two best returns were shown by two British ships with cargoes of rice. The ss. Lyemoon from Saigon bad 2471 tons, and the sa. Wing Chew from Bangkok and Kosickang dis- charged 2,173 tons.

Through freight carried by twelve ships totalled the unusually high figure of 47,091 tons, Five British ships carried 9,884 tons, while seven foreign vessels carried the remaining 37,337 tons. The best carriers were the & Matrunyo Maru from Hamburg and Singa- pore with 7,785 tons, and the ax Nanking (Swedish) from Yoko hama and Shanshai with 7,479 tons. Messrs.
