LONDON, June 28th. · The general public and particular- ly motoring circles are vastly in- terested in the news that Mr. W. R. Morris is about to enter the small car market with a 7-horse power model. There is no doubt that the success of the Baby Austin, which is 7-horse power, has induced the head of the great Cowley firm to engage in competition with Bir Herbert Austin's little car, which is sold in large numbers not only in this country but in all parts of the globe. It has even invaded the United States. It is predicted that there will be a lively fight for the markets in this class of car..

Nobody in the trade had the slightest notion that the Morris Company were building the new car. It was done in a small factory away from the main works, and it was tested by being taken out in a covered motor lorry at midnight into the heart of the country and then run on quiet roads. It is said that the new car, which is to be known as the Morris Minor, will be sold for £125 or less. It is design ed on very modern lines, with a low centre of gravity, and will have a four-cylinder engine with overhead values, four-wheel brakes, and full equipment. I hear that the first model will probably be a saloon to

seat four.

Value For Money.

In trustworthy quarters it is stated that although the price of the-new-Morris - car - is--low, the makers have not departed from the sound British engineering practice of putting in the best material and workmanship. The aim is to give value for людет. A cat in initial cost often means that a article is most expensive in the long run. One of the attractions of the little " car is that it so inexpensive to run, and it can be housed very casily. There are now in number of these on the market in addition to the Baby Austin, already men- tioned, including the Singer, the Standard, the Clyno, the Riley and the Triumph.

It was revealed today by Miss, Amy Elizabeth, Paxon, aged 1, of Pristheld-road, Ellesmere Port, why she said "I shan't at her wed ding ceremony yesterday.

Her intended husband was Mr. Arthur Attwood, innmonger, of Heathfield-road, and the incident brought the service to an abrupt conclusion.

Miss Paxon, who had been acting as housekeeper to Mr. Attwood's father for about a year, said yes. terday:

I was never engaged, but it was always understood that we should be married. The hands were put in at the parish church, Ellesmere Port, and were read out three times.

Yesterday morning I was wor- ried about the wedding, and when Mr. Attwood's father found me crying he asked me what was the matter. I told him that I did not want to be married. He said I should have spoken before, as it was too late. then, but I said I should not get married

As I was walking to the church with my prospective father-in-law I said I khan't be married." He replied: "Don't be foolish It's gone too far, and you'll have to go on." I replied: **I won't"
