BRITISH SHIPS CARRY BEST
THROUGH CARGO,
Nineteen arrivals and thirteen departures were recorded for the period ending at 9 a.m. yesterday, and Chinese vessels showed the best returns as regards numbers antar ing' and leaving.
The cargo returns for both Hoog Kong and ports beyond were only
moderate.
General cargo discharged for Hong Kong from sixteen vessels totalled 13,007 tops, and five British ships contributed 3,412 tons. The 8.5. Prosper (Norwegian), was best carrier with 2,493 tons of rice from Saigon, followed by the B.3. Roku Maru from Dairen with 2,130 tons of general cargo
Through freights carried by nine vessels totalled 18,402 tons. Six British ships were responsible for 11,008 tons, while the two best car riers were also British reswls. The

Lance-Sergeant Ryan who was in charge of the case remarked that when the defendant's boat Was stopped he had no lights showing at all. The defendant pleaded that is was windy at the time, and his lights had been blown out without bia knowledge.
The Magistrate remarked that there was no wind that night, and it did not seem as though two lights should have been blown out at the same time. A fine of $10 with tho alternative of 10 days' hard labour was imposed
"Asiatic Deck Passengers. Eleven vessels brought 2,180 Asiatic deck passengers to the Colony during the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday.
