RETURNS.

LOCAL IMPORTS GOOD,

THROUGH FREIGHTS SHOW

DECREASE.,

Although the general cargoes discharged for this port were lower than the previous day's figures the returns were good. Through freights, however, showed a heavy decrease of about 10,000 tons. There were fifteen arrivals and fourteen departures during the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday and British vessels contributed fair percentage of the shipping

returns.

Local imports amounted to 16,7% tons to which two British ships contributed 844 tons The best cargo. return was shown by the s.. Adna (Norwegian) from San Pedro with 6,668 tons, while the 6.8. Tjilarang (Dutch) discharged 4,340 tons from Sourabaya and "Miike.

Through freights from seven ves sels amounted to 12,771 tons, and four British vessels contributed 1. H0 tons The Dutch resse Tjikarang was best carrier with 5,025 tons, while the as Malacca Huru from Calcutta and Singapore had 5,547 tons of general cargo."

Wong San, 60 years of age, and a mistress of a cargo bont, appeared before Comdr. J. B. Newill, D.S.O... R.N., at the Marine Court yester day morning for committing a breach of the conditions of her licenced cargo host by carrying passengers other than those requir ed to assist the working of cargo.. It was stated that the defendant had 50 passengers on her boat when arrested. The old woman pleaded guilty and said that she was pass- ing a Japanese liner in mid-stream when she was called by the passen gers on board.
