LONDON, May 5th.
In view of the many public engage- ments of the Prince of Wales it is not surprising that he should adopt the fastest means, of getting from place to place. The Prince is a Captain in the Hoyal Air Force, and in future he may use a service acro- plane for travelling to engagements out of London. For some time a Bristol Fighter has been kept in readiness at the Northolt Aero- drome for the Prince, and a few days ago he inspected it and weat for Alight.
It is characteristic of the Prince of Wales that he is content to have service type of machine with an open cockpit, and not an enclosed rabin furnished luxuriously. No. 24 Squadron, stationed at Northolt, which is officially known as the Communication Squadron, is em ployed to carry senior Air Force. officers from place to place; and an the Prince is a Captain he is entitled to the use of an aeroplane. It is understood that the Prince will use the machine to convey him to parts of the country where there is not a convenient railway service. There is no possibility of the Heir to the Throne learning to fy so as to pilot a machine himself. A pilot of the RAF, will always be in charge of the aeroplane.

Speeches of the tuner delegates during the recent two-day session of the central executive commit- tee have revealed a horrible pic ture of unbelievable conditions at present existing in the Sebaktin district and other places in the Don region. Comrade Kolpanov, one of the officials of the Don Basin coal mines, stated" that the majority of the miners, settle- ments are filthy slume. The con dition of the mines makes normal werk impossible, and the miners' unions are ignored by the Com- "munist managers of the minee. The cultural conditions of the workers are literally awful.

The Court returns to London from Windsor this week-end, and pre- parations are being made for the London season, which promises to be exceptionally brilliant. It is said that a remarkable feature of the season will be the extreme youth of the majority of the debutantes; they are nearly all about seventeen, and many of them are still at school or college. Eighteen or nineteen used to be the age up to a few years ago for "coming out." In these days
