Our contemporary, the Times of Malaya, in an interesting article lends its support to the recent suggestions of the Governor of Hong Kong (Sir Cecil Clementi K.C.M.G.) for the breaking down of the social barriers now existing between the European and Chinese communities.
It is emphasised that in Malaya a very real effort in this direction is being made and that the leading Chinese are cordially responding. The article also includes a warm tribute to the abilities of Sir Cecil Clementi. The article states:
