YESTERDAY'S IMPRESSIVE SERVICE.
THE DEAN'S ELOQUENT ADDRESS.
St. John's Cathedral was entirely filled by men in khaki yesterday morning for the 13 a.m. service at which the memorial tablet to the officers and men of the 2nd Battalion Queen's Royal Regiment who lost their lives while serving in China in 1860 was unveiled and dedicated. The tablet has been erected by all ranks of the 1st Battalion of the Queen's, now serving in the Colony. A special form of service was Army. It is esprit de corps which drawn up for the occasion and the band of the Queen's, led the ning- ing and played at the beginning and at the conclusion of the service. The clergy conducting the Service were the Very Rev. the Dean of Hong Kong (the Rev. A. Swann, M.A., D.S.C.), and the Rev. 8. Llewellyn Webb, S.CF. A detach ment of men of the Queen's Regiment, with most of the officers of the battalion, were present and also 120 officers, N.C.0.4 and men of the 1st Battalion, the
K.0.5.B.
An abreviated formed of Matias was arranged, Psalm xxiii, being sung and the lesson from Revelation XXI. v.1-7 was read by Lieut.-Col. Boyd, D.S.O., the C.O. the Queen's Regiment.

The Unveiling.."
At the conclusion of the hymn Licut. Col. Boyd said to Lieut.-Col Harley-Bell-Sir, on behalf of the 1st Battalion of the Queen's Boyal Regiment, I pray you to unveil this Tablet.
Lieut. Col. F. Hayley-Bell, D.8.0.. then unveiled the Tablet, and read the inscription which is as follows:
To the memory of two officers and twenty-five other ranks of the Second, the Queen's Royal Regi ment who died on active service in China in 1880.
Erected by all ranks First Battalion Queen's Royal Regiment while serving in China 1927-28. The Senior Chaplain to the Forces then pronounced the dedicatory prayer which concludes, with the words:-

But why is it that human fellow- ship is strong enough to bridge the gap of death and time? Surely because it is an impulse of our highest nature. It belongs to that part of us which is superior to death
