Definition of TRAVELLERS' CHEQUES—

*The system of Travellers' Chequer was originated in 1891 by the American Express Company with the object of creating a form of travel barrocy which would give the holder the security of a letter of credit and at the sams time the convenience of local currency. The Company registered the trade name. ofAMERICAN EXPRESS cheques under the TRAVELERS CHEQUES the word Travellers being spelled with one "1". The advantage of the Cheques was so apparent that other banking institutione adopted the system.
