TORQUAY, April 16th. After stealing a new motor-car and stocking it with provisions and clothing taken from a beach-side caft, George Whitehead, the con- vict who escaped from Princetown Prison, Dartmoor, yesterday morn- ing, was captured by two detectives on the desolate Milber. Dawas, be tween Newton Abbot and Torquay, this morning..

I have been able to piece together the movements of "the hunted man after he abandoned the motor-car

of the Roman Catholic chaplain of the prison in the privatë estate of Dartington Hall, near Totnes, yes terday afternoon. The story of his efforts to break through the net of pursuit is as follows:

Immediately his car was bogged in the deep ruts of a track he ran away as fast as he cottid.
