BATTLES OF CORONEL AND FALKLAND ISLANDS.

A WONDERFUL BRITISH ACHIEVEMENT.

SUPREME AS AN ENTERTAIN. MENT.

[BY OUR FILM CRITIC]

Much has been written here of

the wonderful film of the British Navy The Battles of Coronel and the Falkland Islands." Statistics of all sorts have been published and some daseription of the purpose and manner of making of the film. But 1 havo hero to view it not in the light of a patriotic achievement but of an entertainment, and as such it stands supreme. Never has any fim been so packed with interest; there is not a single moment when your attention wanders and every tiny detail is enormously significant. It would be asking too much of the Alm industry to expect that as much care should go to the making of every film, and too much of cinema goers to expect them to like auch Alms as their daily fare, but it is on auch films as these that the cinema can base its claim to serious consideration.

Some of the scenes of the ships at sea are pictorially very beautiful, and the roles of the famous persons connected with the naval actions pictured are splendidly taken. The illusion that you are witnessing what actually occurred during the war, seeing the ships in action and Lord Fisher, Winston" and the Ad mirals in the flesh is almost perfect. The spirit of the fim is as fae As any other part of the production, There is no bitterness or hymn of hate in the struggle between the opposed navies, but the spirit which has made our forces glorious in their uncomplaining and unvaunt- ing heroism
