TO-DAY'S CEREMONY AT STANLEY.

THE NEW SITE AND: FIRST BUILDING.

Stanley Peninsula, the new site granted to St. Stephen's College by the Government of Hong Kong, is situated on the South side of the Island, a few minutes run by car from Repulse Bay Hotel. The dis- tance from the City is 85 miles, or ball-an-hour by ear.

The site is an ideal one for a

school, receiving the prevailing Summer winds from South-west or South-east direct from the Ocean. The scenery on all sides is superb. The distance from the City is ac counted a direct advantage by the school authorities, whose plan is to emphasize and develop the boarding side of the school, without altogether abolishing the facilities for day boys For the latter it is hoped to run the present school hus at a fare of twenty cents per trip. But the advantages for boarders are

The object of the reorganisation, according to Martha Li Taai Hain, to prevent conflicts hetween the cadets and the Canton authorities. In the past the Whampoa cadetë have not always been on friendly terms with the Canton regime. When Marshal Li was in Nanking he conferred with Marshal Chiang Kai Shek with regard to the paci- fication of the cadets. Marshal Li then suggested that the Whampoa Military Academy ehould be reor ganised on the lines described.
