* WOMAN ACCOMPLICE.

Two more raids by motor-bandits on costumiers' shops in London, in addition to the one in St Mary Abbot's court, Kensington-road, W., described yesterday, were reported yesterday, says a copy to hand of the Daily Mail.

It is possible they were carried out by the gang, with the woman associate, which raided the Kensing-, ton shop.

She was at the drapery stores of Messrs. C. F. Mayo & Co., of London-road, Forest Hill, S.E. The thieves took with them a quantity of wallpaper and a number of news paper posters with which they dis guised one of the firm's motor-vans, making it appear as if it was a news- paper delivery vau.

The van was used for the removal of the stolen goods and was found abandoned at Leytonstone, on the north-east borders of London,

EXCITING DAYS ON 'CHANGE.

PRICE UPS AND DOWNS.

London, March 30th. The great wave of gambling in the Stock Exchange showed little Fur Coats Removed, Mrs. Mayo told a reporter that ign of ahating yesterday, when the thieves collected all the best brokers reported that many hun- goods-fur coats, & hundred or so dreds of thousands of speculative frocks, hundreds of pairs of silk atackings, and pieces of silk. Mra.shares again changed hands. Mayo added:-

I imagine the goods were loaded into the van at the back of the shop, where it is quiet. We found a quantity of wallpapers and also some newspaper posters in the garage. The paper was pasted on the van on the wrong side so that it should look like the natural covering of the body.

The other raid, a smash-and-grab affair, was made at the premises of Mi Doreen Berwald trading as Phyllis, in Brixton-road, S.W.

During Sunday night a crash of glass was heard and three men, with their arms Alled with fur coats and women's costumes, were seen run-- ning towards a motor-car. The car drove away rapidly in the direction of Camberwell.

Later car believed to be the one used by the bandits was found in a Camberwell street. It was, identified as one stolen earlier in the evening from Dear Golden- square, W., where it had been pack- ed.

The presence of a woman with a gang of shop raiders may be ex- plained by the fact that she would have a knowledge of the quality of the goods which would be useful to her confederates.

Brisir Trade In Stolen Gowns.

Many of the gowns stolen this week-end will probably be worn by women in the next few weeks,

This was the remark make to o reporter by. the claims manager of the Drapery and General Insurance. Company, who has investigated many of the recent raids on eos- tumiers' shops. He added:-

There is a good market for stolen gowns, silk stockings, and silk goods. Many of the gowns will doubtless find their way to markets in London and elsewhere, where they are probably, in some cases, sold by people who have a shrewd idea of their origin. A few of them may even be sold to small costumiers who have not the slightest idea that they have

been stolen.

As they can be easily removed, and, are difficult to identily, they are very tempting to thieves and receivers.

It is not uncommon for the thieves to have a woman with them. I think her function is more to allay suspicion than to aid the thieves.

MR. WYLLIE'S "VICTORY.""

"It is astonishing and a little pathetic," said a broker, whose hand was full of orders, in Thrug- morton-street yesterday. He con tinued:"

The stuff we are being told to buy on a wholesale scale and almost regardless of price! Not a real investment in the lot of it; and quotations jumping all over the place and, the time.

Take this morning. I bought Duophones up to 63. ed. After- wards they alumped to 38s, and now they're back again at 60s. Goodness knows what they'll do to-morrow!

Then look at the turnover in Marconis, Mexican, Eagles, the safety glass specialities, and the gramophone group.

Off and on I buy all of these shares for clients who apparently neither low not care the past record or present position of the

It is no good advising them. They have got the "get-rich- quick" virus badly and a steady 6 per cent, on money saved does not attract them,

As in other things, they back their fancy, and in the last few wecks I have posted a good few fat cheques to women clients, who are gramophone "fans" or de votees of special brands of arti- ficial silk.

However, the text will come in a falling market. And then there may be good few husbands and fathers to be sorry for,
