CANTON, April 12th. Thanks to the combined effort of the Canton merchants and the Pro- vincial Administration, Central Bank of China notes are now quoted at 68.5 per cent,, an advance of 85′′ per cent, over a week ago. Three main reasons for this rise are given by the money changers at Sup Sam tong. First, General Wong Shiu Hung and others have recently bought up more than a million dollars worth of banknotes, thus reducing the amount in circulation; secondly, the Canton Government is becoming more secure day by day and people are holding their notes, in anticipation of their rising value instead of disposing of them as soon as possible; finally, Marshal Li Tsai Haia, is definitely returning to Canton to take charge of the Gov-
