GARDEN PARTY WEAR IS PRETTY AND FEMININE.
CRAFTSMANSHIP IN
MILLINERY.
THE HONG KONG DAILY PRESS, FRIDAY, APRIL 6th, 1928.
Many of the new hats, though simple to a degree in outline, are marvels of craftsmanship. Different coloured felts are worked into each other in the most intricate patterns without breaking up the perfectly fat outline by a hair's breadth
It may be noted that several of the leading milliners are still covering one eas, and that the eye veil (now called the with a large chenille spot, launched so successfully three months ago, is
The Garden Party season is now opening and we have to take thought what to wear. The latest infor mation from Paris indicates that the models produced by the big houses are on decidedly feminine and very lovely lines, Hats with, big drooping lines, trimmed either, retained. with a bunch of flowers loosely laid en one side,, of the brim, a loosely tied ribbon of velvet or a narrow band of gror prain, accompany frocks of chiffon, organdie or georgette, with fluttering panels, and streamers, in, pastel shades.
Sunshades, curiously enough, ave very small and Victorian in shape, and cannot be intended for use with the larger hats, except perhaps in purely ornamental way "carried unopened, when they really appen more like large bags. But the day. of the small hat is by no means over, and most of them are similar in shape and trimming to the large» modela.
Among Pamela's hats are a large white tagal straw bound with scarlet i and navy groegrain, and a lovely model of dern loer which has bunch of palest green yelvet mastur- tiums on the brim, and yers narrow green ribbon. A somewhat- similar hat in black Ince in trimmed") with a loose bunch of pastel sbadg primulas. Beige silk straw is used for a smaller hat which has a brown velvet ribbon tied in a bow on either side. A very pretty new straw is pearl beige in colour and is woven with a line of gold thread.
Of the frocks I chose out a white chiffon model printed with a coral coloured paltern of palm leaves. It is the new directoire cut bat has a double flance of tiny golets, and along floating scarf from rach shoulder which is tied loosely at the back.
A similar scorl is used on
a model of navy chiffon printed with large red and amber roses. The skirt in this case is covered with mall handkerchief" panels. One of the lovliest. dresses I have seen this season is made of pale pastel blur chiffon, printed in a f deeper tone blue, and plain. The plain material is used for the shoulder yoke which is cut all in one with a large bow which ties just to the left of the centre neck; and dia- mond, shaped insertions put in round the low hip line, and the under slip. From these insertions tlepend the same shaped panels of the printed material which also maken the bodice of the dress. The effect is gracious, with a slight (Continued on next Column).

Of course, I need hardly add that to complete your garden party toilette you can get the finest French silk stockings and Pinet shoes at the same shop.
