Before Commander J. B. Nowill at the Marine Court on Saturday morning. Chan Lai, master of a cargo boat was fined 63 far fndling to exhibit the regulation Eights on board his boat whilst underway in Victoria Harbour.

A mistress and master of cargo loats were also fined $3 each for mooring their craft outside five others alongside the as. New Mathilde thereby causing obstruc tion to other vessels in the harbour. Both defendants pleaded guilty and 'were fined as stated.

A terrific fight was observed to be "KHYRER” ia progress a little distance away between a shark and a school of porpoises. The shark, which was about eighteen feet long, suddenly tried to get clear of the school, and rushing ahead of the Hermes was struck by the bows of the warship.
